Obituary of Kathleen Ann Staib

Kathleen A. Staib, 62, of Centereach, NY passed away in Syracuse, on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born in February 1958 to the late James and Catherine (Baiamonte) McCabe, Sr. She grew up in Bayshore alongside brothers, Michael and James, and her sister Michele. Kathy graduated from Islip High School and shortly after married the love of her life, Michael Staib. They were married on February 20th, 1977 at St. Mary’s Church in East Islip, NY. Kathy and Mike settled in Centereach where they raised their three children.

Kathy cherished her role as a homemaker and took great pride in her family and the home she created. She found true happiness taking care of those around her. A self-described homebody she relished time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was loyal, caring, funny and had an innate ability to talk to anyone she met as if she had known them for years.

Kathy was preceded in death by her loving parents; brother Michael McCabe; mother in law Josephine Staib; and father in law, Daniel Staib. She is survived by: her husband of 43 years, Michael Staib; children: Melissa (Jacob) Donohue; Michael (Jenna) Staib, Jr., Ryan (Elizabeth) Staib; eight grandchildren: Jacob Donohue Jr., Michael, James, and Mckenna Donohue, Michael Staib III, Ryan Staib Jr., Madison, and Claire Staib; brother, James McCabe Jr.; sister, Michele (Wayne) Preston; nephew, Wayne Preston Jr.; and many aunt,s uncles, and cousins.

There will be no services at this time, due to Covid restrictions. The family will have a private memorial in the spring.
