Obituary of Albert F. Roberts
Albert F. Roberts, 78, of Nedrow, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 17, 2021. He was born in Syracuse on October 18, 1942 to the late Herbert and Adella (Bidus) Roberts.
Albert was a self taught man, extremely hardworking, and a jack of all trades. He started working as a paper boy, gas station attendant, making candy apples and cotton candy at field days, a paver, carpet installer, forestry worker, and so much more. He finally found the job he loved so much- head mechanic and groundskeeper at LaFayette Golf & Country Club; where he retired after more than 40 years of employment.
He enjoyed working outside and always talked about the beautiful things he saw on that hill- from sunrise to sunset. He met so many people working throughout his life, and was a friend to all. He loved cars; and did body and detail work alongside his regular day job. His favorite pastimes were eating out at Jim’s Fish Fry, and going to the dirt track races with family and friends. He always had a story to tell you.
Along with his parents, Al is predeceased by his sister, Mary Leach. He is survived by: his wife of almost 50 years, Debra (Hass) Roberts; daughters, Becky “Wooper” Northrup and Connie “Tinker” Roberts; three grandchildren: Noel Potter, Kaylee “Marie”, and Lexi “Skipper” Baker; brothers, Frank and Herbert “Butch” (Marilyn) Roberts; several nieces, and nephews.
