Obituary of Thomas Victor Dadey, Sr.
Thomas Victor Dadey, 85, of LaFayette passed away peacefully on Friday at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Leo and Gertrude Dadey. Thomas was a graduate of Central High School. He obtained both his B.S. and law degree from Syracuse University. He was an avid golfer, was captain of the SU golf team, and was a member at Bellevue Country Club.
Thomas served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1959. After 50 years of practicing law, Thomas retired to spend time with his family. He was the attorney for the Town of Tully and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse, served as the President of the Onondaga County Bar Association in 1985, and was President of Aurora of CNY in 1997.
Thomas was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in LaFayette. He enjoyed cutting wood, skiing, riding his tractor, making maple syrup, taking walks in the woods, and most of all, spending time with all of his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his loving wife of 53 years, Joan Marie Felts; five children, Thomas (Joan) Dadey Jr. of Dewitt, Jennifer (John) Evans of Dewitt, Kristin (Sean Callahan) Dadey of Manila, Philippines, Mark (Sarah) Dadey of Longmont, CO, Matthew (Rebecca) Dadey of Jamesville; and seventeen grandchildren: Mitchel, Connor, Ryan, Meghan, Erin, Luke, Ella, Grace, Regan, Kate, Julia, Bryce, Madeleine, Maeve, Mimi, Caleigh, and Lillian.
He was predeceased by his siblings: John, Richard, and William Dadey; and Mary Jane Murphy.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday June 2 from 9 am -10:30 am, at St. Joseph’s Church, 6104 Route 20, LaFayette. A private mass of Christian burial will follow.
