Obituary of Christine Arvilla West

Christine “Cricket” A. West, 63, of LaFayette passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 14, 2022. She was born in Syracuse in 1958 to the late William and Barbara (Clark) Aungier. After graduating LaFayette High School, Cricket worked odd jobs until she and her high school sweetheart, Raymond “Chipper” settled in Houston, TX in the late 70s. Here he built their home, and Cricket was able to work for Aetna Insurance, and Foley’s Dept. Store while caring for her family. After Chipper’s death in 2000, she returned to LaFayette to be closer to family. She recently worked at convenience stores in the area, where she developed many close friendships with her customers. Cricket enjoyed playing Bunco and Pitch, and listening to classic rock and country music. She was a social butterfly, who loved her friends as if they were her family. She appreciated live music, and bird watching. Cricket was also a loyal member of the LaFayette VFW Auxiliary Post 1955. Her true joy in life came from her children, and grandchildren.

Cricket is survived by: sons, Adam (Jessica), of Houston, TX, and James West, of Newport Beach, CA; grandchildren, Corinthia, Janiyah, Adrien, and Ariyah; siblings, Sherri (Bryan) Clarry, Bradley (Janice), Billy “BA”, and Daniel Aungier; several nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; and many friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by: her husband, Raymond “Chipper” West; daughter, Lianne West; sister, Cindy Thomas; niece, Shannon Thomas; and nephew, Cole Aungier.

An hour of calling will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 2 pm to 3 pm, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette, NY. A memorial service will follow at 3 pm.
