Obituary of Ronald W. Wheatley

Ronald W. Wheatley, 83, of LaFayette, entered Heaven's Gates on March 20, 2022, at home with his family by his side. He was born in Syracuse, NY in January 1939 to the late Ivan and Amoret (Walter) Wheatley. Ron married his wife, Marilyn F. Russell on March 22, 1962. Together they built their home and raised a loving family on Chase Road in LaFayette; where he lived until his passing. A loving father, Ron devoted his life to ensuring his family had everything they needed. He retired after 30 years with Fisher Guide in Syracuse, where he was proud to be a member of the Local 854 UAW from 1964 to 1993. Ron enjoyed hunting, camping, and gardening; and was known to spend countless hours maintaining his yard. He was a loyal member of the Fabius Christian Church since its inception.

Ron is survived by: his beloved wife of 60 years, Marilyn; as well as his three children, Laura (Ron) Windhausen, Ron (Julie), and Mark (Melissa) Wheatley. He is the proud grandfather of seven: Douglas (Meghan), Tyler, and David Windhausen, Lance and Kevin (Kelsey) Wheatley, Clint and Levi Wheatley; as well as four great grandchildren; and siblings, Ivan (Diane) Wheatley, Jr., Wava Piela. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by siblings, Edmond Wheatley and Doris Lesinski. 

Friends may call on the family and share fond remembrances of Ron at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette, on March 24 from 4 pm to 7 pm; along with a brief reception. A funeral service celebrating Ron's life will be held on Friday March 25 at 10 am at the Funeral Home. A private service will be held at his final resting place, at Maplewood/Berwyn Cemetery.
