Obituary of Richard A. Patsos

Richard A. Patsos, 54 of Plank Road, Berlin, New York died on Wednesday morning, August 30, 2006 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He had been under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County. Richard was born in Bethesda, Maryland on November 28, 1951, the son of Ann M. Panighetti Patsos of Nedrow, New York and the late Cornell R. Patsos who died on August 21, 2006. He was the loving husband of the former Judy Osborne, whom he married on July 7, 1984 in Soldotna, Alaska. They moved to the Berlin, New York area from Alaska in 1986. A 1969 graduate of Onondaga Central High School, Richard graduated with honors and excelled in wrestling. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in geography and history in 1973 from SUNY at Albany. He was also awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Regents College in New York State. Mr. Patsos was employed for the past ten years by Saratoga Associates Landscape Architects, Architects, Engineers, and Planners where he was Manager of Information Systems and Technology. Prior to that, he worked for Foresight in Pittsfield, a civil engineering firm. His family attended Berlin United Methodist Church and he served the Town of Berlin on the Zoning Appeals Board. He loved traveling and has visited all 50 states and Europe. Survivors besides his wife and mother include two children Matina S. Patsos and Nate N. Patsos both at home, a sister Judith D. married to John Ponto of Liverpool, New York and two nephews Anthony J. and Matthew A. Ponto. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday, September 2, 2006, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York. A Funeral Service will start, Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by family friend, Rev. Pamela Mikel Hayes. Interment will follow in the Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the Berlin United Methodist Church, S. Main Street, Berlin, New York with Rev. Robert Hurd, pastor officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service in the church hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patsos Children College Fund in care of the Thomas M.
