Obituary of Leonard E. White

Leonard E. White, 88, of Shallotte, North Carolina, and formerly of Patterson Road, Marietta, New York, died Saturday, May 6, 2006 at home. Leonard was born in South Onondaga on May 23, 1917, the son of Elton "Mitch" White and Hilda Block. He was a very active member of Otisco Union Church and Old Shallotte Baptist Church. Leonard retired in 1979 from Stauffer Chemical Company after 25 years of service. An Army veteran of WWII, he was a member of the American Legion in Shallotte. Mr. White is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jessie (Gardner); four sisters, Edna Chapman of Syracuse, New York, Lucille Sponable of Martville, New York, Dorothy Haney of Phoenix, New York and Janet Sue Bonaccio of Syracuse, New York; two brothers, Gordon White of Genoa, New York and Gerald of Warners, New York; brother-in-law, Stanley Gardner; sister-in-law, Laura Spinner; several nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his mother and father; two sisters, Florence McAleer and Charlotte Tobin; and three brothers, Robert, Lysle and Erwin White. Services: Wednesday, May 10, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m. in Otisco Union Church, Route 80, Otisco, New York. Burial: Amber Cemetery, Otisco Valley Road, Marietta, New York.
