Obituary of Alice B. Scully

Alice Bassett Scully, age 90, of Cortland, New York died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, New York after a brief Illness. Alice was born August 1, 1915 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Albert and Mathilde (Corriveau) Bassett. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Joseph Scully who retired after 32 years of faithful service to the Roman Catholic Bishop of Syracuse. Alice was employed for 12 years at Lerman's Wholesale Carpet Company, retiring in 1978. For more than 25 years, Alice was a lifetime member of the Army and Navy Union Auxiliary # 3217 of Syracuse, serving in a number of offices including President. She and her husband Joseph were members of the Troop K Cavalry Club of Syracuse since Joseph served in the Troop D. Cavalry. Before retiring to Cortland, Alice was a long time member of St. Vincent DePaul Church and was a current member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse. As the widow of Tracy Figary, she is survived by Patrick Figary of Dover, Delaware and John E. Figary of North Syracuse, New York. As the widow of Joseph W. Scully, she is survived by Michael J. Scully of Pennsylvania, Joanne M. Scully of Sodus Point, New York and Marie-Celeste Scully of Rochester, New York. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one newly born great-great granddaughter. Services: Thursday, February 16, 2006, 9:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., and 10:00 a.m. in Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 259 E. Onondaga Street, Syracuse, New York, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery, 4100 E. Genesee Street, DeWitt, New York.
