Obituary of Thomas P. Notcher

Thomas P. Notcher, 83, of Henderson, New York and formerly of The Valley in Syracuse, New York died Saturday, January 28, 2006 at home. Thomas was born February 26, 1922 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Peter F. and Mary (Smith) Notcher. Mr. Notcher was a highly decorated U.S. Army veteran and former P.O.W. receiving the Purple Heart, P.O.W. Medal, Air Medal and the New York State Conspicuous Service Medal. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1975 following 30 years of service as a letter carrier in Syracuse, New York. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ann Shettler Notcher who died in 2004. Survivors: His son and daughter-in-law, Christopher D. (Linda Chiasson) Johnson of Syracuse, New York; two grandchildren, Nathan Johnson of North Syracuse, New York and Emily Daily of Nedrow, New York; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: Wednesday, February 1, 2006, 8:15 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc. and 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 300 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York.
