Obituary of John D. Nolan

John D. Nolan, 73, of 5600 Shute Road, Lafayette died Monday at VA Medical Center. Born in Syracuse, he was the son of Leo and Louise (Gibson) Nolan. He was employed by Iron Workers Local 60. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Snipe Clan and a former member of the Onondaga Nation Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Bible Student with the Jehovah's Witnesses in Lafayette and he enjoyed his family. John was predeceased by a brother Chief Leo Nolan and two sisters: Madeline Honyoust and Maxine Gonnella. John is survived by his wife of 10 years the former Marlene Cook; one daughter, Patricia (Raun) Gabrial of LaFayette; two sons, Alex (Betty) Roundpoint of Awkesasnee, N,.Y. and John D. "Skip" Nolan Jr. of Syracuse; three stepsons, Nathan (Debra) Powless of Syracuse, Shondar (Dorothy) and Duncan Powless both of Onondaga Nation; two stepdaughters, Deborah (George) Burke of Syracuse and Raquel (Daryl) Krigbaum of Onondaga Nation; a sister and brother-in-law: Betty and Sam Babcock of LaFayette; two brothers, Bernard Nolan of Liverpool and Jimmy Nolan of Rochester; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Services will be held, 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will be in the Onondaga Nation Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 4:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street.
