Obituary of Eleanor K. Miller Jenkins

Eleanor K. Miller Jenkins, 84, of Syracuse, New York, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2005 in Crouse Hospital, Syracuse. Eleanor was born in Fort Covington, October 24, 1921, the daughter of Henry M. and Maude (Glasgow) Kelley. She was raised in Fort Covington and Bombay, New York. She was a graduate of Bombay High School and Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. Her secretarial skills led her to employment with McKesson & Robbins, Halcomb Steel, Onondaga County Credit Union and Bruns & Jenney Patent Attorneys. Eleanor was a member of First United Church of East Syracuse and sang in the church choir. She also remained active with the ELCA at the Atonement Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Eleanor enjoyed singing throughout her life and was a member of the Valley VIP's and the Cecile Senior Center. She was a member of the Bonafide Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and participated in Folksmarch through the YMCA for many years. Eleanor's first husband, Arthur L. Miller pre-deceased her in 1989. Surviving: Eleanor's second husband of 12 years, Walter L. Jenkins of Syracuse, New York; two daughters and son-in-law, Pamela M. Speer (Thomas) of Manlius, New York and Long Lake, New York, E. Elaine Miller of Westport, New York; two sons and daughters-in-law, David A. Miller (Margaret) of Camillus, New York, Robert A. Miller (Deborah) of Nantucket, Massachusetts; her stepsons, Bruce Jenkins of Canastota, New York and Douglas Jenkins (Margaret) of Marietta, Georgia; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Niles (Byron) of Massena, New York; a sister-in-law, Gwen Kelley of Oswego, New York; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Memorial Service: Sunday, November 6, 2005, 3:00 p.m. in First United Church of East Syracuse, 823 Franklin Park Drive, E. Syracuse New York. The family will receive friends at church following the service. Interment: Private at Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse. New York.
