Obituary of Lennallia Gibson Averett

Lennallia "Lennie" Gibson Averett, 78, of Syracuse, New York died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at home. Lennallia was born July 20, 1927 in Asbury Park, New Jersey, the daughter of Lawrence Gibson and Harriet Williams. Lennie lived in New York City before moving to Syracuse in 1958. She retired from Marine Midland Bank (HSBC) in 1992 following 20 years of service as a credit supervisor. She previously worked for Flah's & Company Department Store in Syracuse as the supervisor of the alterations department for 10 years. She was a former member of the American Bankers Association. A very active person, she enjoyed dancing, traveling, poetry, reading and the holiday season getting together with family and friends. Her true love was shopping. Surviving are her loving companion of 33 years, Anthony V. Arnold; one daughter, Charlotte (Calvin) Johnson of Dewitt, New York; one sister, Geraldine Davidson of Atlantic City, New Jersey; one brother, Lawrence L. Gibson of New York City, New York; five grandchildren, Randolph Johnson of Oneonta, New York, Renee Johnson of Syracuse, New York; Camille (Dennis) Guerra of Syracuse, New York, Terrance Johnson of Boston, Massachusetts and Carla (Laron) Robinson of Syracuse, New York; ten great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, Myasia Johnson.
