Obituary of John W. Martin

John W. Martin Sr., 75, of Largo, Florida and formerly of Syracuse, New York, died Monday September 26, 2005 in Largo. John was born May 16, 1930 in Syracuse, New York, the son of George and Agnes (Ritemeyer) Martin. He retired from the Engineers Union Local 545 in 1987 as a heavy equipment operator and has remained a member for more than 50 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and a member of the George Company. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Eleanor J. Payne; two sons and daughter-in-law, John W. Jr. (Diane) Martin of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Richard G. Martin of Syracuse, New York; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Gary) Myers of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania; one brother, Richard Martin of Rochester, New York; one sister, Rosemary Martin of Baldwinsville, New York; six granddaughters, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
