Obituary of David James Deaver

David James "Gentle Giant" Deaver Sr., 61, of Nedrow, New York went to be in the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 14, 2005. Born in Batavia, New York on June 5, 1944, he grew up in Avoca, New York and later moved to Syracuse, New York. He was the son of the the late Edward C. Deaver Sr. and Dorothy (Razey) Deaver of LaFayette, New York. He attended Onondaga Community College and Cayuga Community College and retired from New York State Department Of Transportation Canal Division in 1986 ater 24 years. He was a lay leader and Sunday School Teacher at Cardiff United Methodist Church and a member of St. Paul?s United Methodist Church. He played bass guitar with several country bands in the Syracuse area and was in the Mexico United Methodist Church Folk Band and was also a member of the The Jordan River Band at Mexico Penticostal Church of God. David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen Corbett Deaver; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura M. (Brian) King of Minoa, New York; five sons and daughters-in-law, David J. Jr. (Theresa) Deaver of Minoa, New York, Timothy A. (Tonya) Deaver of Mexico, New York, Daniel P. (Erin) Deaver of Camillus, New York, James M. (Terri) Deaver of Mexico, New York and Stephen M. (Jennifer) Deaver of Parish, New York; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Pat Nephew of Arkport, New York and Linda (Daniel) Sawkins of LaFayette, New York; two brothers and sister-in-law, Edward II (Carol) Deaver of Fulton, New York and Michael Deaver of Jacksonville, Florida; 14 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Memorial Service: Saturday, September 17, 2005, 3:00 p.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 2200 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York. Burial: Saturday, September 17, 2005, 10:30 a.m. in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York.
