Obituary of Robert James Smith

Robert James Smith, age 51, of Lafayette, New York died suddenly Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at University Hospital in Syracuse, New York. Robert was born February 27, 1954 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Robert Matthew and Mary Anne (Doyle) Smith. He was a graduate of Tully High School and attended Paul Smith College. He was a correction officer at Marcy State Prison and was a Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam where he was a helicopter crew chief at New River Air Station. He was preceded in death by his father. Bob is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Smith of Sherrill, New York; two sons, Christopher Ian Smith and Travis Smith both of Sherrill, New York; his mother, Mary Anne Conger of Syracuse, New York; one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Bob Hazard of Tully, New York; four brothers, James Smith of Maine, Stephen Smith of Auburn, New York, Thomas Smith of Manlius, New York and Mark Smith of Trumansburg, New York.
