Obituary of Michael Leonard Polly

Michael L. Polly, Jr., 78, of Syracuse, New York died Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Community General Hospital, Onondaga Hill, New York. Michael was born March 24, 1927 in Lockhaven, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Central High School and SUNY Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences at Utica. He retired as a foreman in 1983 after 27 years from the Department Of Public Works. He started the AFSCME Foreman's Union and was it's first president. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. James Church, a member of Valley Men's Club and he enjoyed fishing and woodcarving. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Anna (Toth) Polly, two brothers and one sister. Michael is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Laura Elizabeth Reynolds; one daughter, Deborah (Avril) Currier of Pine View, Wyoming; six sons, Larry (Jean) Polly of Jamesville, New York, Edward Polly of Dewitt, New York, Philip Polly of Atlanta, Georgia, Mark (Amy Jo) Polly of Dewitt, New York, Kevin (Debra) Polly of Jackson, Wyoming and Jerry Polly of Jackson, Wyoming; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Services: Monday, August 1, 2005, 8:30 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home and 9:00 a.m. in St. James Church, 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York. Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York. Calling Hours: Sunday, July 31, 2005, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York.
