Obituary of Marie Bench McGarry

Marie V. McGarry, 93, formerly of 122 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, New York died Monday, April 11, 2005 at Community General Hospital, Onondaga Hill, New York. Marie was born November 30, 1911 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Howard H. and Grace (Schaefer) Bench. She graduated from Vocational High School in 1929 and from Central City Business Institute. She retired from St. Joseph's Hospital in 1971 as a Clerk Typist and formerly worked for Syracuse Supply and Smith Corona Typewriter. She was a communicant of St. James Church and a member of their Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of Catholic Women's Club, Legion of Mary, a former Democratic Election Inspector and a former Girl Scout leader. Her husband Charles Clement McGarry died in 1988. Marie is survived by her daughter, Lillian Garrity of Burke, Virginia; grandson, Christopher Garrity of Herndon, Virginia and three nephews. Services: Thursday, April 14, 2005, 9:00a.m. in St. James Church, 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated.
