Jean, Corrie, Barbara and the rest of the family, I would like to extend my deepest condolence for the loss of George. You guys were great neighbors on Went Terr. That was a fun neighborhood. I could always count on George being on the porch to shoot the breeze or buy a chance in one of my triple crown pools. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm sorry that illness prevented me from saying a proper goodbye to George at the services. I asked him to fill in temporarily as the night city editor and he stayed in the job for more than 6 years, as he frequently reminded me. But that was George, a good soldier, an editor who set and held to high standards on the job and in his personal life. I talked to him the week before his passing; he was tired but optimistic and happy to be with his beloved Jean. There are not many like him left. He'll remain in our thoughts and memory. Bob Atkinson, former Post-Standard Executive Editor, retired.

It was a very sad day, the day George passed away. During the time I knew him and was part of the family, it was very clear the value and importance George placed on his family. He will be dearly missed and will always be remembered.

I knew George at the Press-Republican from 1953 to 1960. I was Composing Room night foreman when I left to work For the Wall Street Journal. He was one of the finest men I've ever known. I remember how once in a while after work at 2:00 am we would break out the Guiness Book of records and quiz each other. I also remember one night whenwe were riding in Don Garrant's car having a well-deserved brew. George and the newsroom had gone after Police Sgt McCooey. Anyway Don would come to a redlight and George would tell him to drive through.(Therewas no one driving at that time of day so it was very safe. Anyway wouldn't you know we were pulled over by McCooey who looked into thee car and said ""Unlike some people I can give somone a break once in a while. As we drove away Don said to George I thought you said you could handle everything if we got stopped/ At which point George said ""I did"" ""you didn't get a ticket did you know. We all had a ggod laugh on Don's expense. I don't know why I'm going on and on. Let me say if there is a heaven then George is there.

A brief candle; both ends burning. An endless mile; a bus wheel turning. A friend to share the lonesome times. A handshake and a sip of wine. So say it loud and let it ring. We are all a part of everything. The future, present and the past. Fly on proud bird You're free at last.- Quote from Charlie DanielsIn memory of a loving and great grandfather, George Carr.
