Obituary of Rebecca Hersch

Rebecca Hersch, 84, died at Loretto in Syracuse, New York on Thursday, February 3, 2005 after a long illness. Rebecca was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, August 29, 1920, the daughter of Bernard and Bessie (Davis) Hersch. She was a resident of Absecon Island for 75 years, living in Atlantic City, then Ventnor and then for several years on Franklin Avenue in Margate. She attended Atlantic City High School and was an executive secretary at Atlantic Advertising for more than 25 years. She later worked for the New Jersey Gaming Commission in Atlantic City before retiring. Rebecca looked forward to her yearly vacation trips and visited Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, National Parks in the US and Canada. She enjoyed her hobby of photography while traveling. Rebecca is survived by her sister, Cecelia H. Vender of Beachwood, Ohio; nephew, Michael (Toby Briskin) Vender of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, niece, Betsy (James) Yurdin of Liverpool, New York and great-nephews Jeffrey and Allen Vender of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and Joel and Matthew Yurdin of Millbrae, California. Burial: Sunday, February 6, 2005, in Rodef Shalom Cemetery, Pleasantville, New Jersey. Rebecca's family appreciates the care given to her over many years at Loretto, first on Courtyard Three in Heritage Apartments and then on Floor Five in the Cunningham Building.
