Obituary of Louis J. Mevec

Louis J. Mevec, 77, of Syracuse, New York died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Community General Hospital after being stricken at home. Louis was born August 8, 1927 in Vandling, Pennsylvania, the son of Louis and Frances (Petrocic) Mevec. He retired from General Electric in 1989 after 30 years of service as a Skilled Trades Forman. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a former member of the Tully-VFW American Legion. Louis is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Anna Mae Stelma; three sons, Louis S. Mevec of Lowell, Florida, Robert L. Mevec of Brandon, Florida and Honorable Danny Louis Mevec and his wife Kay of Cazenovia, New York; four grandchildren, Louis and Martin Mevec both of Syracuse, New York and Kathryn-Danielle and Joseph Mevec of Cazenovia, New York; three brothers, Robert Mevec of Liverpool, New York, Harold Mevec of Camillus, New York and William J. Mevec of Ballston Spa, New York; two sisters, Frances Chmarney of Exeter, Pennsylvania and Tillie Billo of Syracuse, New York; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edward and a sister, Amelia "Molly" Kurtak. Services: Saturday, January 29, 2005, 8:15 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home and 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes, 300 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Father Thomas Fitzpatrick. Interment: Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, New York. Calling Hours: Friday, January 28, 2005, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S.
