Obituary of Michael J. DeChick

Michael J. DeChick, 54, of Otisco, New York died Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 8, 1950 in Auburn, New York, he was a graduate of Central Tech. High School. Michael and his wife, Pat, were the owners and operators of Lord?s Hill Kennels and had previously owned and operated The Apple Ponies. He was a finisher at Marsellus Casket Co., retiring in 1978 after 10 years. He also worked as a general contractor and at Beak & Skiff. He was a member of the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and Iroquois German Shepherd Dog Club. He enjoyed his red corvette and loved riding with his wife on a sunny day. His most loved things in life were his wife, family, driving his car, antiquing, and being with friends. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, the former Pat Barduhn; two daughters and their husbands, Heather (Kevin) DeChick-Soderholm of LaFayette and Amanda Lynn (Jesse) Perrine of Camillus; his father, Michael D. DeChick of Camillus; one sister and her husband, Susan (William) Chapman of Mattydale; and his beloved granddaughters, Taylor, Tianna and Mia; a niece, two nephews, their spouses and children; his friend and mother in law, Mary Barduhn. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Taylor DeChick. Service: Friday, December 17, 2004, 7:00 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc.
