Sigmund John "Siggy" Brzostowski, 57 of Lafayette, New York died Saturday, December 4, 2004 at University Hospital, Syracuse. Shigmund was born January 30, 1947 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Sigmund and Ivy Belle (VanDyke) Brzostowski. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Lafayette, New York. Siggy retired from New Process Gear in 2004 as a fork lift operator following 33 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a green beret serving with the special forces. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Rebecca Brzostowski, in 1965. Survivors: His wife of 23 years the former Yolanda "Yola" Kaminski; three sons, Sigmund "Siggy" Brzostowski of Camillus, New York, Casey Brzostowski of Syracuse, New York and Jesse Brzostowski of LaFayette, New York; a daughter, Rebecca Brzostowski of LaFayette, New York; a brother, Andrew Brzostowski of California; three sisters, Mary O'Leary of Las Vegas, Sylvia Anderson of Hastings, New York and Paulette Granger of Queensbury, New York; a half sister, Sigrid Cicchetti of Baldwinsville, New York; two grandsons, Alex and Evan. Services: Friday, December 10, 2004, 10:15 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc. and 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 6136 Cherry Valley Turnpike, LaFayette, New York. Burial: Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, New York. Calling Hours: Thursday, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, New York.
