Obituary of James Richard Murray

James Richard "Dick" Murray, age 74, of Liverpool, New York died Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at home. James was born April 29, 1930 in Syracuse, New York. He grew up in Nedrow, New York and went to school at Rockwell School and Onondaga Valley Academy. He raised his children in LaFayette, New York and later lived in Liverpool, New York and spent summers on the St. Lawrence River. Dick was a 48 year member of Carpenters Local # 12 and 747 and was an active member of the Carpenters Retirees Club. He was past president of the LaFayette Trail Riders Snowmobile Club and was one of the founders of the snowmobile "Sno Cross" race. He was a cowboy and a pirate. He ran the Pirate Boat Parade in Alexandria Bay during the Pirates Weekend celebration. HE WAS A PROUD MEMBER OF THE JIMMY BUFFETT PARROT HEADS. He was an Army veteran. Dick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marguerite "Peggy" (Greene) Murray; three daughters, Darlene Haynes, Stacey Murray and Jolie Whipple; one son, Jeffrey Murray; three sisters, Shirley Vicaire, Marilyn Mackey and Melanie Allen; two brothers, Raymond "Buddy" Murray and Ronald Murray; stepmother, Lillian Murray; 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Murray and his mother, Alice "Lolly" Murray.
