Obituary of Allen L. Hammond

Allen L. Hammond, age 87, of Syracuse, New York died Friday, August 20, 2004 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital, Onondaga Hill, New York. Allen was born September 2, 1916 in Liverpool, New York the son of Royal James and Ollie (Williams) Hammond. He retired in 1975 from the Veterans Administration Medical Center following 13 years of service as a psychiatric aide. He previously worked at the former County Home and attended Fairmount Free Methodist Church. He was an United States Army veteran of WWII. Allen is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosamond (Weyer) Hammond; three daughters, Margaret (Dalton) Smothers of Syracuse, New York, Elizabeth Hammond of Syracuse, New York and Nancy (Dave) Waldo of Maceo, Kentucky; one son, Roger (Jean) Hammond of Syracuse, New York; one sister, Florence Litzenberger of Fairmount, New York; one brother, Kenneth Hammond of Penn Yan, New York; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Services and Burial: Tuesday, August 24, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, New York with Rev. Charles Bratt officiating.
