Obituary of Leah Golden

Leah Austin Golden, 89, of Syracuse, New York and formerly of Alterra Villas of Summerfield for four years, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital, Onondaga Hill, New York. Leah was born December 25, 1914 in Manlius, New York, the daughter of Gerald and Suzie Mae (Watrous) Austin. She resided for 20 years in Zephyr Hills, Florida and summered in the Thousand Islands. She was a graduate of North High School and Syracuse General Hospital Nursing School. She worked at Syracuse General Hospital after graduation for 12 years, worked as a nurse at Purcell's Nursing Home, and was a private duty nurse for the Hinds Family of Crouse-Hinds. She retired as Head Nurse in 1977 after 13 years with Van Duyn Home & Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl G. Golden in 1994. Leah is survived by one daughter, Marcia Golden of Chittenango, New York; two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Ann Golden of Dayton, Ohio and Bob and Fern Golden of Syracuse, New York; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services: Saturday, June 19, 2004, 12:00 noon at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc. Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York. Calling Hours: Friday, June 18, 2004, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York.
