Obituary of Alfred D. Thomas

Alfred D. "Uncle Al" Thomas, 87, resident of Oneida and previously of Syracuse, died Tuesday at the VA Medical Center, Syracuse. Al was born on the Onondaga Nation and lived in Oneida for the past four years with his niece and her husband, Jeannine and Jim Lacy. He retired from the Laborer International Union Local 40 and was a decorated war veteran of World War II. He is survived by his sister, Julia Thomas of the Onondaga Nation; sister-in-law, Edith Thomas of the Onondaga Nation; several nieces and nephews. Services: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc. Syracuse, and 11:00 a.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd. Burial: Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street.
