Obituary of Daniel J. Murphy

Daniel J. Murphy Jr., age 80, of Taunton, New York died Monday, March 22, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Syracuse, New York. Daniel was born September 13, 1923 in Little Falls, New York, the son of Daniel J. and Edna (Snell) Murphy. He was employed by and a life member of the Bricklayers Union Local 28, Syracuse, New York, retiring in 1975. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He was a member and past Commander of American Legion Valley Post 1468, member of Veterans Affairs, member and past Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of Valley Men's Club and a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of Irene Burke Murphy who died in 1985. Mr. Murphy is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Liz Murphy III of Eastwood, New York and Michael and Catherine Murphy of Taunton, New York, with whom Daniel resided; two daughters, Kathleen Albanese of Cicero, New York and Patricia Leonard of Eastwood, New York; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, several nieces and nephews. Services: Friday, March 26, 2004, 9:15 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Avenue, Syracuse, New York where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Father Frederick Mannara.
