Obituary of Grace B. Martin

Grace B. (Edmonds) Martin, 93, died Friday, February 20, 2004 in Lady Lake, Florida. Grace was born April 6, 1910 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Albert C. and Amelia (Zimmer) Born. She resided in Syracuse for over 60 years. She was a graduate of Syracuse Central High School and a 1931 graduate of City Normal School. She taught elementary education at Cherry Road School prior to raising her family. She was a member of LaFayette Avenue Methodist Church during her residence in Syracuse, and a communicant at the Chapel of All Faiths in Lady Lake, Florida. She will be remembered as an invariably positive person, whose gifts of gentleness, friendliness, patience and understanding hallmarked all of her personal relationships. Her first husband, John E. Edmonds, widely known in the Syracuse manufacturing community and the Purchasing Agents Association, died in 1972. Mrs. Martin was married to Charles L. Martin, formerly of Syracuse, for over 23 years, residing in Florida at that time. Charles Martin passed away in July 1997. Mrs. Martin is survived by a sister, Marie Weller of Farmington, Michigan; four sons, John A. "Jack" Edmonds of Dryden, New York, David A. Edmonds of Onondaga Hill, New York, Robert Lee Edmonds of Barrington, New Hampshire and James R. Edmonds of Beaverton, Oregon; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services: Saturday, April 3, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunford Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Nelson Gaetz officiating. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, 800 Grant Boulevard, Syracuse, New York.
