Obituary of Norman M. Moore

Norman M. Moore, Sr. 89, of Onondaga Hill, New York died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at home. Norman was born March 2, 1914 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Howard and Clara (Fitch) Moore. He was a life resident of the Syracuse area. He retired from New York Bank for Savings as a Loan Officer and was previously employed by the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. Following retirement, he worked for 20 years with Hancock and Estabrook, P.C. He was one of the first members of the Onondaga Hill Presbyterian Church. An avid Syracuse University Football and Basketball fan he was a 45 year season ticket holder and a member of the Orange Pack. A former member of the Onondaga Hill School Board, he was instrumental in the development and building of the Onondaga Hill Elementary School. He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving aboard the USS Swasey. He attended every annual reunion with his shipmates. He was a life member of the Onondaga Hill Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling and softball, playing for the F.B.I. as a young man. Norman is survived by his daughter and her husband, Nancy C. and Richard Egan of Clay, New York; two sons and their wives, Norman M. Jr. and Jackie Moore of Milford, Connecticut and Brian D. and Eileen Moore of Syracuse, New York; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia Obert Moore in 1994 and his daughter Marcia A. Moore. Services: Wednesday, February 18, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at Onondaga Hill Presbyterian Church, 4797 Makyes Road, Syracuse, New York with Rev. Robert Langston officiating. Burial: St. Agnes Cemetery, 2315 South Avenue, Syracuse, New York. Calling Hours: Tuesday, February 17, 2004, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S.
