Obituary of Thomas R. Carden

Thomas R. Carden, age 83, lifetime resident of Syracuse, New York died Monday, December 29, 2003 at Community General Hospital, Onondaga Hill, New York. Thomas was born October 28, 1920 in Syracuse, New York. He retired in 1988, at the age of 68, after many years as a carpenter for Angelo Spadato Construction Company. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Valley Post 1468, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the International Organization of Old Bastards. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, golf, playing cards with his family and trips to Rosies and LaFayette. Mr. Carden is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Wildridge Carden; one daughter and her husband, Brenda and Patrick Major of Waterloo, New York; two sons, John Carden of Manlius Center, New York and Richard and Carmella Carden of North Syracuse, New York; one sister and her husband, Grace and Hank Chase of Wilmington, North Carolia; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as many good friends. Services: Friday, January 2, 2004, 1:00 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., with Sister Carolyn Chmielewski officiating. Burial: Greenlawn Cemetery, 2932 Warners Road, Warners, New York. Calling Hours: Friday, January 2, 2004, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York.
