Obituary of Julia H. Martin

Julia H. "Julie" Martin, age 86, of Syracuse, New York died Sunday, January 19, 2003 at Vivian Teal Howard Residential Health Care Facility, Syracuse. Julia was born June 19, 1916 in Harrisville, Rhode Island, the daughter of Martin and Catherine (Kapala) Ballas. She was a homemaker. She was a Foster Grandparent with the Foster Grandparent Program at the Syracuse Developmental Center for 20 years, former president of the Delaware School Mothers Club, former Cub Scout Den Mother and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Syracuse. She was the wife of Donald J. Martin who died in 1979. Mrs. Martin is survived by her two sons, Donald T. Martin of Clay, New York and David E. Martin of Syracuse, New York; one brother, Edward C. Ballas of Syracuse, New York; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral: Thursday, January 23, 2003, 10:30 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., and 11:00 a.m. in St. James Church, 4845 S. Salina Street, Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Daniel O?Hara. Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt, New York.
