Obituary of Laura Dorsana Perkins

Laura Nichols Perkins, age 97, of Syracuse, New York died Saturday, December 7, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. Laura was born January 11, 1905 in Curriers, New York, the daughter of Huron and Martha (Bush) Nichols. She resided in Syracuse for 68 years. She was employed by New York Telephone and Taylors Red and White Grocery Store. She participated in many activities as a member of the Delaware Baptist Church. She was a member of the Robert Cecile Senior Center where she enjoyed square dancing, playing piano, quilting and ceramics. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Perkins in 1978. A sister, Lucille Hagerty and a brother, Laurence Nichols also preceded her in death. Mrs. Perkins is survived by one daughter, Patricia Downes of Curriers, New York; one son, Richard Perkins of Bonito Springs, Florida; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews and long-time friend, Joseph Bitzel of Syracuse, New York. Funeral: Tuesday, December 10, 2002, 9:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. David Mosovich officiating and 3:00 p.m. in Java Village Baptist Church, Java Village, New York with Rev. Michael Schell officiating. Burial: Curriers Rural Cemetery, Curriers, New York.
