Obituary of Effie H. Horton

Effie Hawkins Horton, age 90, of Nedrow, New York died Monday, October 28, 2002 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, New York. Effie was born November 4, 1911 in Syracuse, New York the daughter of George and Carrie (Rienhardt) Hawkins. She was a life resident of the Town of Onondaga. She was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy and Syracuse City Normal School. She was a teacher in the Syracuse City School District for 32 years retiring in 1972 as a first grade teacher at Meachem Elementary School. She was a member of Onondaga Valley Presbyterian Church, the New York State Retired Teachers Association and the Onondaga County Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald L. Horton, April 27, 1996. Mrs. Horton is survived by two sons, Gerald C. Horton of Bridgeport, New York and James I. Horton of Kirkville, New York; five grandchildren; one nephew, Keith Hawkins of Skaneateles, New York; great nephew & nieces; great-great nephews and niece.
