Leighton "Larry" C. Kinner, 94, died of old age on Sunday, June 4, 2023, following a brief stay at Fahey Rehab Center. Larry was born in Elmira, NY on March 22, 1929, to Allen D. and Nellie C. Larry was known for his love of music. As a boy, he played violin and and sang in the school and church choirs. He attended St. Luke's  Congregational Church, across the street from the Kinner home on Oak Street. He loved football, horses, and music, and gave up violin in favor of football. Larry attended Elmira Free Academy and Lakemont Academy, where he graduated from high school, Canton, got AA degree from Morrisville, and finished his education in animal husbandry and horticulture at Cornell. He joined the Army during the Korean Conflict which ended before  he finished basic training so he continued his career playing football on the base team.

Larry worked in many jobs, insurance, NCR, tending horses, landscaping. In 1973, he left Elmira for Syracuse, found a new church and joined the choir. At Plymouth Congregational Church he found a home, serving on the Deacons, Christian Education, and Building committees. He worked for Onondaga County Parks and Recreation until he decided to focus on his own landscaping business.

Larry is survived by Peggy, his wife of 44 years,  his son, Leighton "Lanny" C. Kinner, Jr. , son Robert T.
