Obituary of Dorothy J. Walter

Dorothy J Walter, 75, of Delmar, NY passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Friday, July 7th at Albany Med. with her children by her side. Dorothy lived in LaFayette, NY for the majority of her life. She graduated from LaFayette Central Schools and worked at Crouse Hospital in the payroll department for many years. While residing in LaFayette, Dorothy was an active participant in the LaFayette Fire Department Auxiliary, LaFayette VFW Post 1955, and Saint Joseph's Church. She will be remembered for her sharp wit and humor, love of circle word books, always going out of her way to lend a helping hand, making apple pies at the church for the Apple Festival, and stopping to visit any dog or baby she saw.  Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Hoke, husband Bill Walter, daughter Catherine, and sisters Karen Jerome and Mary (Philip) Field. She leaves behind her son Bill Walter of Delmar, NY, daughter Karin Walter of Clifton Park, NY,  son-in-law David Wishart, sisters Cathy (Larry) West of Athens TN, Gale (John) Mease of Lititz PA, Carol (Lynn) Monroe of Athens TN, brother Michael (Terri) Hoke of Tully NY, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends in both the Albany and Syracuse area. The family would like to thank Bethlehem EMS, Albany Med ED, and Albany Med MICU for all the wonderful and compassionate care they provided. There will be no public services. A private burial will be held at LaFayette Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Dorothy's name to the Rod Craig Memorial VFW Post 1955 in LaFayette NY or Homeward Bound Dog Rescue of New York in Schenectady NY.  Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
