Obituary of Charles Harry Crangle

Charles Harry Crangle, 72, of Syracuse, New York passed away at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, John Paul and Mary Crangle, on the evening of Monday, August 7th 2023.

Charles was born January 4th, 1951 in Syracuse, New York, the son of James Robert and Clarissa (Fowler) Crangle and was the 4th of 12 children. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and Ithaca College. Charles married Lisa Lonergan on October 30th, 1982. They raised 4 sons in Orlando, Florida. Charles was a loving father and would often be found at the baseball field watching their games and cheering them on or coaching their teams. Charles epitomized the qualities of toughness and tenacity, and will forever be remembered for his unwavering positivity, especially in the face of adversity. He will be greatly missed by his family and countless friends.

Charles is survived by his sons and their wives Charles “Casey” L. (Abigail) Crangle, Nicholas D. Crangle, Brian D. (Nicole) Crangle, and Ian W. Crangle; five sisters and their husbands, Barbara A. (Thomas) Planz of Olive Bridge NY, Betty J. (David) Murphy of Centerport NY, Marianne Christy of Old Forge NY, Annette (Michael) Fekete of Washington DC, and Jennette (Richard) Beers of Rockville MD; and four brothers Thomas J. Crangle of Las Vegas NV, David P. (Sharon) Crangle of Silverthorne CO, John Paul (Mary) Crangle of Syracuse NY, and William D. (Valorie) Crangle of Dillon CO; five grandchildren: Harry, Ellie, and Sophie (of Charles and Abigail) and Jane and Jack (of Brian and Nicole); Charles was also an uncle to 22 nieces and nephews on his side of the family, not to mention 17 nieces and nephews by marriage.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Crangle on August 24th 1974, his mother, Clarissa I. (Fowler) Crangle on April 28th 2005, his brother, Robert J. Crangle on May 28th 2005, and his sister, Kathleen H. “Freida” Sidou on June 20th, 2021.

Service: Saturday, August 19th, 10:00 AM at Church of the Most Holy Rosary, 111 Roberts Ave, Syracuse NY 13207.

Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Dr, Syracuse NY.
