Obituary of James E. Terrell
James (Jim) E. Terrell, 88, of Tully, died on June 13, 2021. Born in Syracuse, NY in January 1933, he was the son of the late William F. and Ethel R. (Blackman) Terrell.
Jim graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1950 and then served in the U.S. Army as an aircraft mechanic. He went on to work for his father in the food distribution business, and later the Terrell’s Potato Chip Company. When his father retired in 1976, he took over the business and managed it until his own retirement in 1991.
In retirement he and his wife, Jean, became snowbirds with a permanent residence in Sebring, FL. They maintained their camp in Tully, NY, and only recently moved back to be close to family.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by: his brother, William (Bill) and, sister Linda. He is survived by: his loving wife of 65 years, Jean E. (Matterson); sons, James (Norene), of Moscow Mills, MO; Jack (Brenda) of Jamesville, NY; Michael (Mary Jo) of Fabius, NY; and Keith (Melissa) of LaFayette, NY; sisters, Judy (Michael) Wells of Palm City, FL; and Patricia Webster of Sebring, FL; brother, Robert (Lisa) of Sebring, FL; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday June 21 from 3pm to 6pm, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette, NY. A memorial service will immediately follow.
