Obituary of Melvin J. Shaw

Melvin J. Shaw, 68, of Syracuse passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.  He retired as a teacher from the Syracuse City School District where he taught for over 35 years.  After retirement, Melvin continued to work as a substitute teacher. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph M. Shaw and Annie M. Shaw.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Sanrose Shaw; son, Melvin J. Shaw II, Kenneth Rivers, Donald Rivers; daughters, Shannel Harkar, Shauntay Rivers, Lakisa Walker; sister, Josephine (Robert) Wagner; brothers, David H. Shaw and Allen F. Shaw; grandsons, Kayden and Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 11AM to 1PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY.  

Services will follow at 1PM at the funeral home.
