In 1964, Mrs. Merckel was my first grade teacher. I can still remember her kindness and her thoughtful attention she gave to all of her kids. She was one of my favorite teachers. I am 46 now and live in Albuquerque, New Mexico but I will never forget her and hope that she is resting peacefully.Sincerely, John Colang

I was blessed to have known Mrs Merckel as a student at Van Duyn many many years ago. I have fond memories of a gentle, loving, caring teacher and special person. My sympathy to her loving family. I'm grateful to have known Mrs Merckel. Thank you for sharing her with us. Peace.

Dear Gary,Barb & Family,I am very sad to hear of your loss, especially at this time of the year. It is always difficult losing a parent, even if they had a long, good life. My prayers are with you all that God will give you the peace you deserve.Betty

Dear Gary & Barbara- Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. The Holiday Season is made a little more difficult when we loose a loved one in the same time. We passed thru exactly the same things 13 years ago. Our faith tells us we should ""celebrate their life"" and rejoice in the fact that they have completed their final journey. God bless you and keep you strong. Carl & Jeannette Donahue
