Obituary of William James Hill

William James Hill, 65, of Liverpool, New York died Sunday, August 29, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, New York. William was born August 20, 1939 in Bradford, Pennsylvania, the son of Arthur J. and Theresa V. (O'Brien) Hill. He was a graduate of Bradford High School. He was employed by Syracuse Supply, Syracuse Fasterners, Albany Products of Norwalk, Connecticut as a Branch Manager and Thruway Fasteners, Liverpool, New York, retiring after 30 years in 2003 as General Manager. He was a VJAA coach for football, basketball and baseball, a referee and Founding Father for Independent Football Officials of Onondaga County and an umpire for the NYS Umpires Association. He was an usher at SU?s Manley Field House in the "ZOO" and at the Carrier Dome. He was a coach of West Genesee Babe Ruth, the voice of Babe Ruth tournaments at Griffin Field and the Western NY Babe Ruth League Baseball District Commissioner. He was an avid fan of SU, Notre Dame and Perdue athletics. William is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann (Shipman) Hill; two sons, William T. (Kelly) Hill of Manlius, New York and David M. Hill of Camillus, New York; two grandchildren, Bryan and Brittany Hill. Services: Friday, September 3, 2004, 9:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., Syracuse, New York with Father Thomas Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York. Calling Hours: Thursday, September 2, 2004, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street.
