Obituary of Robert A. Ortman

Robert A. "Bob" Ortman III, age 54, of Syracuse, New York died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at home. Robert was born May 8, 1949 in Oneida, New York the son of Robert A. Jr. and Helen (Bowman) Ortman. He was employed for 18 years by Onondaga County Drainage & Sanitation in Syracuse. He enjoyed the outdoors and was very mechanical and handy. His pride and joy were his four grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda Legare Ortman; three children, Amy (Jerry) Swanson of Syracuse, New York, Crystal Cowart of Liverpool, New York and Robert (Brandy) Ortman of Syracuse, New York; four grandchildren, Tanner, Caitlyn, Devin and Taylor; his mother, Helen Rudd of Cazenovia, New York; seven sisters: Janet (John) Baker of Georgia, Vicky (Norm) O'Bonnon of Georgia, Donna (Bruce) Shantell of Georgia, Rita (Howard) Rhoades of Florida, Sherry (Robert) Tucker of Erieville, New York, Jackie (Todd) Stevens of Munnsville, New York and Sandy (Greg) Badgley of Weedsport, New York; four brothers, Larry (Melody) Ortman of Oswego, New York, Ron (Barb) Ortman of Canastota, New York, Jerry Ortman of Munnsville, New York and Ken (Carol) Ortman of North Syracuse, New York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Stewart. Services: Monday, February 16, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Jim Lorick officiating. Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York. Calling Hours: Sunday, February 15, 2004, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York.
