Obituary of Richard F. Hughes

On October 7, 2003 Richard F. Hughes, 68 of Otisco, and Vero Beach, Florida died peacefully and joined our heavenly Father. Mr. Hughes was the owner operator of the former Hughes Tile and Remodeling starting in 1979 which is now known as Hughes Tile, Inc.. retiring in 1995. He formerly worked for Shepard Glass and Tile in Syracuse. He was a communicant of St. Leo's Church in Tully and St. Patrick's Church in Otisco. He was a member of the Image of God Prayer Group of St. Patrick's and St. Leo's and a member of the Servants of Mary at St. Leo's, also serving as a lector, eucharistic minister and minister to the homebound for both Churches. He was a life member of the Otisco Fire Department, and a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was pre-deceased by a sister Sharon Chappell. Survivors: His wife of 42 years the former Patricia Grzanowicz, two sons, Richard (Denise) and Daniel (Polly) Hughes both of Tully, two daughters, Lori (Rick) Woods of Manlius and Kathy (Jim) Kiernan of Homer, a brother, James Hughes of N. Syracuse, two sisters, Marilyn White of Bridgeport, and Carol Cogan of Syracuse, and his pride and joy 13 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kayla, Gregory, Nathan, Jake, Benjamin, Samantha, Jaydon, Patrick, Allison, Amanda, Aaron, Christopher, and several nieces and nephews. Services: 11:00AM Friday at the Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Lafayette and 12:00 PM at St. Patrick's Church, Otisco. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Otisco.
