Obituary of Lawrence W. Smith IV

Lawrence W. "Larry" Smith IV, 49, of Syracuse, NY, died Thursday, May 26, 2016. Born in Syracuse, he was the son of the late Lawrence III and Cheryl (Atkinson) Smith. Larry was the owner and operator of L&M Specialty, a general construction company. He was previously employed at New Venture Gear for 13 years. Larry enjoyed his vacation home in Virginia Beach, fishing, Miami Dolphins football and was an avid SU sports fan. He had a great sense of humor, was a great dad, he loved his grandchildren. He was an awesome brother and friend. He was a wonderful man. Larry is survived by his wife of five years, the former Carrie F. Tuper; son, Lawrence W. Smith V of Syracuse, NY; daughters, Larissa (Charles) Thomas of Liverpool, NY and Lauren Smith of Syracuse, NY; stepson, Justin Spack of Syracuse, NY; stepdaughters, Kristen Tuper and Kaylee Spack, both of Syracuse, NY; brothers, Nathan (Carrie) Smith of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Michael Atkinson of LaFayette, NY; sisters Denise Smith, Dianna Jaquin and Etta Grace (Matthew) Aldrich, all of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Michaela, Miya and Otwane; in-laws, Carl and Mary Patten of Syracuse, NY; aunt, Kathleen Smith of Wilkes-Barre, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, NY.
